Self care is the practice of intentionally taking actions for the betterment of your wellbeing. Self care is not an afterthought activity, it requires deliberate planning and execution. Are you intentional about taking care of yourself or do you wait till you burn out?.
Self care helps to boosts your confidence level and creates a sense of self awareness. How well do you know yourself?, can you easily identify when you need to take a break, can you tell the warning signs?. Self care does not have to be extravagant, it can be as simple as the following;
• clean and declutter your room and office desk.
• say no to events and gatherings that stretch you too thin.
• journal, writing down your thoughts helps you become aware of yourself and why you act the way you do.
• Exercise, you can start by taking a flight of stairs instead of the elevator or walking.
• cook your favourite meal, it could be just noodles but treat yourself.
• Take a bath, it could be warm or cold. Whatever works for you.
• Take a nap. Sleep will rejuvenate you.
• Do something creative, like painting.
• sit outside and enjoy nature.
• watch funny YouTube videos.
• keep a gratitude journal
• unplug from social media.
You don’t have to feel selfish about taking care of yourself, self care is not synonymous to selfishness. You can not pour from an empty cup,take care of you too.
